Position Summary
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and control of inventory throughout the manufacturing and warehouse operations. This position oversees inventory levels for work-in-process (WIP), packaging materials, and finished goods while ensuring all inventory transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
The Inventory Control Manager leads cycle counting activities, manages inventory adjustments, coordinates inter-facility transfers, and oversees the disposition of defective, damaged, and obsolete materials. This role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, Shipping, and Accounting to maintain inventory accuracy and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records for components, work-in-process (WIP), packaging supplies, and finished goods.
- Develop, schedule, and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cycle count programs to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and process inventory adjustments in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate inventory transfers between manufacturing plants, warehouses, and distribution facilities while ensuring proper documentation and system updates.
- Manage defective, damaged, and obsolete inventory, working with Quality Assurance and Production to determine proper disposition.
- Analyze inventory trends, shrinkage, and variances and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Lead physical inventory counts and coordinates annual inventory audits.
- Generate inventory reports, including inventory accuracy, cycle count completion, inventory adjustments, inventory turnover, and inventory variance reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization, inventory flow, and overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing inventory processes, warehouse operations, and inventory control best practices.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar manufacturing systems.
- Strong understanding of inventory reconciliation, cycle counting, physical inventories, and inventory auditing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze inventory data and trends.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and warehouse/manufacturing environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely or become certified as required.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
