Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary eye examinations and gather patient medical histories.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Assist in the preparation of patients for examinations and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record systems like Epic.
- Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Educate patients on eye health and treatment options.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists to provide exceptional patient care.
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks as needed.
- Support retail sales of optical products when required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing processes.
- Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately.
- Experience in sales or retail sales within a healthcare setting is a plus.
- Competence in managing medical records efficiently.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is advantageous.
- Knowledge of optical products and services is preferred.
