This Mechanic performs highly technical, skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and preventive maintenance of our large fleet of Light Duty Trucks with a focus on 1500 series to 5500 series trucks.
- Perform comprehensive service, repairs, and preventive maintenance on DHM’s fleet of light duty trucks ranging from 1500 to 5500 series.
- Repair of trucks by repairing or replacing damaged or worn parts
- Follow instructions given by the Shop Manager and Asst. Shop Manager
- Operate and inspect trucks in order to diagnose defects
- Troubleshooting – identify problems and arrive at possible solutions
- Utilize diagnostic software in order to diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment or calibration devices, and resolve other mechanical and electrical issues
- Execute all necessary mechanical repairs required to bring trucks to PA State Inspection standards
- Manage truck repair parts ordering to ensure timely project completion
- Test drive trucks after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and operation
- Dismantle and reassemble trucks using hand tools and/or hoists
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other required maintenance work on trucks
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear
- Maintain truck service records and accurate documentation through computer-generated work orders
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding truck status and repair needs
- Read and understand operating manuals and technical drawings
- Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies using hand tools, jacks, and hoists
- Understand and carry out both oral and written instructions
- Repair of trucks takes place in the DHM, Inc. Shop area
- Able to work overtime hours as required
- Perform labor tasks and other duties, such as light cleaning, maintenance, repairs, as assigned
- Minimum of five years of proven experience as a truck mechanic working with relevant tools and equipment required to repair and maintain light duty trucks
- ASE certification is a plus
- May require a Class A or B CDL license with valid medical exam certificate
- Requires a safe and clean driving record
- Requires a valid PA Inspection License
- Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of using automotive software and digital work order systems for repairs and maintenance
- Above average mechanical skills with computerized system repairs and diagnostics for trucks
- Proven ability to perform the full range of repairs necessary to pass PA state safety and emissions requirements
