General Farm Hand — General Manager Track
Providence Livestock | Mclean, Nebraska | Full-Time
About Us
Providence Livestock is a family-owned cattle and sheep operation in northeast Nebraska, owned and run by a husband-and-wife team. Providence Livestock is a fairly new operation but we are really excited. We're growth-focused with big plans to expand — and we're looking for a full-time team member who wants to build something long-term with us, not just punch a clock. We're family-oriented, and we genuinely want to see our employees succeed, both on the job and beyond it.
What You'll Do
- Daily feeding and general livestock care — checking cattle and sheep
- Doctoring animals and catching health problems early — you'll learn to spot a sick or off animal before it becomes a bigger issue
- Operating and maintaining equipment — tractors, feeding equipment, and other farm machinery
- Building and repairing fence, maintaining water systems, and keeping handling facilities in working order
- General upkeep around the operation as it grows
What We're Looking For
- Basic understanding of livestock and animal care is preferred, however no prior experience required — we're willing to train the right person
- What matters most: work ethic, reliability, and a genuine willingness to learn
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and around livestock
- A valid driver's license
- Someone who takes ownership of their work and treats the animals and equipment like their own
- We want somebody on our team who is self-motivated and disciplined.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay, based on experience
- The opportunity to own a stake in some of the livestock you help raise — as you grow with us, you build equity in the operation, not just a paycheck
- Hands-on training across every part of the operation, with real room to grow into a general manager role as we expand
- A family-oriented team that invests in its people
Schedule
Full-time. Like any livestock operation, hours can run early, late, and through weekends at times — especially during calving/lambing season — but we work to keep things predictable and sustainable for our team.
