Overview
Prismatic Development Corporation is a prominent general contractor that specializes in complex public works and large-scale projects across the New York and New Jersey region who has been in business over 43 years. With a portfolio exceeding $2 billion, our work includes major public works building and infrastructure like the Yankee Stadium Parking Facility, Newark Airport terminal relocation, transit garages, psychiatric facilities, schools, prisons, water and wastewater treatment plants and other large government buildings. Our projects range from $20MM to over $400MM. We are looking for candidates that have related experience. Because we self-perform much of our contract work (including concrete, carpentry, masonry, and sitework), an estimator here must have a deep understanding of self-performed union labor and material pricing.
Job Overview
- Job Title: Estimator– Immediate Hire
- Experience Required: 3+ Years. Field jobsite experience a plus.
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a strictly related field is required (equivalent field/trade experience may be substituted for education).

Key Responsibilities
- Subcontractor Outreach: Identify, contact, and pre-qualify trade subcontractors to build a robust bidding network.
- Bid Solicitation: Drive proactive communication via phone, email, and bidding platforms to secure multiple coverage quotes per trade.
- Pre-Bid Representation: Attend mandatory pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs to assess field conditions, evaluate logistics, and interface with owners or agency representatives.
- Scope Definition: Write and distribute clear scopes of work to ensure subcontractor bids match project specifications.
- Quote De-scoping: Review, compare, and level complex subcontractor proposals to identify missing items or overlapping costs.
- Relationship Management: Maintain strong, long-term working relationships with regional subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and reliable bidding.
- Bid-Day Administration: Distribute incoming quote revisions, organize digital bid folders, log coverage metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 3 years in a general contracting estimator role with heavy focus on subcontractor management, public works experience with PANYNJ, DASNY, NYSOGS, NYCDCAS, NYCDDC, DSNY a plus.
- Availability: Ability to interview promptly and transition into the role quickly.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for negotiating, presenting, and explaining project requirements.
- Market Knowledge: Established relationships with subcontractors and material vendors in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Building Connected. Direct familiarity with ProjectSight for tracking project documentation, drawings, budgets, and team workflows. Advanced skills in Bluebeam Revu for precise blueprint analysis and quantity takeoffs. Master-level command of Microsoft Excel (formulas and bid leveling sheets) and the standard MS and Adobe Office Suites.
- Administrative & Organization Skills: High organizational ability, strong multi-tasking skills, and the capacity to handle heavy administrative workloads calmly during high-pressure bid deadlines.
- People Skills: Strong conflict resolution, active listening, and relationship-building abilities.
Compensation & Benefits
Benefits Package: Competitive health, retirement, and paid time off packages will be detailed during the interview process.
Target salary range ($110,000 - $150,000) Negotiable based on experience.
