HVAC Construction Project Manager
*Project Manager is required to travel depending on jobsite location/English Speaker is a must; Spanish speaker a plus**
Position Summary
The HVAC Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing commercial HVAC projects from contract award through completion. This position oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor and vendor coordination, client communication, documentation, and overall project execution.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and construction practices, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Manage commercial HVAC projects from start to finish, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Review contracts, drawings, specifications, scope of work, schedules, and project requirements.
Coordinate project activities between customers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, field personnel, and office staff.
Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress.
Identify potential delays, conflicts, scope issues, and other project risks and develop solutions.
Conduct and/or participate in project meetings and coordination meetings.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, invoices, daily reports, and closeout documents.
Estimating & Financial Management
Review project budgets and monitor job costs throughout the project.
Assist with estimating, pricing, proposals, and scope reviews when needed.
Review material and equipment pricing and coordinate purchasing.
Prepare, negotiate, and track change orders and additional work.
Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with project scope.
Monitor billing, collections, and project financial performance.
HVAC & Construction Coordination
Review mechanical plans, specifications, equipment schedules, and shop drawings.
Coordinate HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, electrical requirements, and other related trades.
Coordinate fabrication and delivery of HVAC materials and ductwork with field installation schedules.
Work closely with the Foreman to ensure field work matches the approved plans, specifications, and project schedule.
Address field conditions and coordinate necessary solutions with the appropriate parties.
Ensure work complies with applicable codes, project specifications, and company standards.
Customer & Contractor Relations
Serve as a primary point of contact for general contractors, owners, customers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
Maintain professional relationships with customers and construction partners.
Communicate project status, schedule updates, issues, and required decisions.
Negotiate scope changes, pricing, and project adjustments when necessary.
Help resolve disputes and project issues professionally and efficiently.
Safety & Quality
Support and enforce company safety policies and project-specific safety requirements.
Monitor project quality and ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Coordinate inspections, testing, startup, commissioning, and punch-list activities.
Ensure required closeout documentation is completed and submitted.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience managing commercial HVAC or mechanical construction projects preferred.
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction processes.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and equipment submittals.
Experience with change orders, RFIs, submittals, project schedules, and job costing.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, email, and construction/project management software.
Ability to travel to project sites as required.
