We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting activities for a contract position. This opportunity is well suited for an accounting specialist who can bring structure to reconciliation work, help restore timely financial reporting, and manage a backlog in fixed asset records. The role will contribute across core accounting functions while ensuring account activity is accurate, documented, and aligned with internal financial controls.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, accounts receivable, and other assigned ledgers.
- Review, organize, and update fixed asset records to address outstanding backlog and improve accuracy in asset accounting.
- Prepare and post journal entries that support monthly accounting activity and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve unreconciled items, and document findings to support clean and reliable financial records.
- Maintain schedules and supporting documentation for account activity to assist with month-end and reporting requirements.
- Assist with sales tax and corporate tax-related accounting tasks, including gathering data needed for filings and returns.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to clarify account activity, verify balances, and support ongoing accounting cleanup efforts.
- Experience in staff accounting or general accounting roles with strong knowledge of reconciliation processes.
- Hands-on background in fixed asset accounting, including asset tracking, depreciation support, and record maintenance.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and working within the general ledger environment.
- Demonstrated ability to complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
- Familiarity with accounts receivable reconciliation and broader ledger account analysis.
- Working knowledge of corporate tax and sales tax support activities, including preparation of financial data for returns.
- Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple account priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
