Responsibilities
- Safely transfer patients between departments, rooms, or external locations using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques.
- Assist patients with mobility needs, including those requiring heavy lifting or specialized equipment, following safe lifting practices.
- Maintain clear communication with caregivers and medical staff to coordinate patient movements efficiently.
- Follow infection control protocols and isolation precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases during transport.
- Use de-escalation techniques when interacting with distressed or anxious patients to ensure a calm environment.
- Support hospital staff by providing exceptional customer service, ensuring patients feel cared for and respected throughout their journey.
- Adhere strictly to hospital patient safety measures and implement safety protocols during all transportation activities.
Skills
- Prior experience in home & community care or hospital settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient transfer methods, medical terminology, and critical care transport procedures.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR is required to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices.
- Strong understanding of infection control measures and hospital safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for caregiver interaction and team coordination.
- Experience with de-escalation techniques and patient safety measures implementation enhances your ability to manage challenging situations confidently.
