A pet cremation driver is a professional who transports pet remains from veterinary clinics or owners to cremation facilities, and sometimes back, with care, respect, and strict adherence to safety and chain-of-custody protocols.
Core Responsibilities
- Transportation: Safely and professionally move pet remains in accordance with company and legal requirements, often using refrigerated or climate-controlled vehicles.
- Respectful Handling: Treat remains with dignity, following facility protocols to maintain emotional sensitivity and professionalism.
- Chain of Custody: Maintain accurate records and documentation for each pet, ensuring proper identification and tracking throughout the process.
- Coordination: Work with crematory operators, customer service, and veterinary partners to meet scheduled pick-ups and returns.
- Facility Support: Assist with loading/unloading, preparing daily schedules, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.
- Physical Work: May involve lifting up to 50–75 lbs, operating vehicles, and handling equipment
- Valid state/province driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to handle emotional situations with professionalism.
- Physical stamina for lifting and operating vehicles.
- Mechanical aptitude or equipment operation experience is a plus
