Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Custodian/Maintenance Technician to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing custodial duties, general repairs, and maintenance tasks across the school campus. Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Conduct routine janitorial tasks with attention to detail, ensuring all areas are hygienic and presentable.
- Carry out minor repairs such as fixing fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and addressing plumbing issues to support ongoing facility operations.
- Assist with residential painting projects and industrial cleaning tasks as needed to improve or restore school spaces.
- Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely while adhering to proper procedures for commercial cleaning and custodial work.
- Support facilities maintenance by inspecting building systems, reporting issues promptly, and performing preventive upkeep to minimize disruptions.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown.
- Monitor building safety and security.
- Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance, including snow removal and grounds upkeep.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
Qualifications
- Has experience in custodial or building maintenance (preferred but willing to train the right candidate).
- Ability to perform light maintenance tasks such as repairs and painting with precision and safety awareness.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for managing cleaning schedules and maintenance requests.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform manual tasks throughout the workday.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and tools used in facilities maintenance.
- Prior porter or facilities maintenance experience is highly desirable.
- Is dependable, hardworking, and takes initiative.
- Can work independently while being part of a team.
- Has basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general maintenance.
- Enjoys working in a school environment.
