Job Summary
Are you a licensed therapist who loves working with children and wants a full-time position where you can build a meaningful career while still having a healthy life outside of work?
Life In Balance Counseling & Wellness Center is looking for a warm, compassionate, and experienced Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with strong experience working with children and adolescents to join our team.
We are a well-established, award winning private group practice serving the New River Valley. We have a strong referral base and are looking for a clinician who genuinely wants a full-time caseload and is excited to become part of a supportive, collaborative, and healthy practice environment.
Why Life In Balance?
We believe therapists do their best work when they feel supported, respected, valued, and trusted.
You will not be expected to build a practice from the ground up or spend your time marketing yourself for clients. We have referrals and actively work to help our full-time clinicians build and maintain a healthy caseload.
At the same time, we believe being a full-time therapist should not mean giving up your personal life. We offer flexibility and autonomy while providing the stability and support of a full-time employee position.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a therapist who:
- Is currently licensed in Virginia as an LPC or LCSW
- Has strong experience providing therapy to children
- Enjoys working with children, teens, and families
- Has a warm, compassionate, and engaging personality
- Has a strong foundation in psychotherapy and evidence-informed clinical practice
- Is comfortable working with a variety of mental health concerns
- Wants to maintain a full-time clinical caseload
- Is comfortable accepting appropriate new referrals as they become available
- Values collaboration while maintaining clinical autonomy
- Has strong communication and documentation skills
- Is dependable, professional, and committed to providing excellent client care
Experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, family systems, or other child mental health needs is highly desirable.
The Position
This is a full-time W-2 employee position designed for a therapist who wants a healthy, full clinical practice.
Once the caseload is established, the position is designed around approximately 25–28 completed client sessions per week.
We understand that a new therapist's schedule does not fill overnight. Life In Balance provides referrals and support while you build your caseload during the first 60–90 days.
You will have flexibility in how you structure your workweek while maintaining the availability necessary to serve your clients and maintain a full caseload.
Your clinical responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual therapy to children
- Providing family therapy when clinically appropriate
- Conducting clinical assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
- Providing evidence-informed psychotherapy based on each client's needs
- Addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, family difficulties, and other mental health needs
- Monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment interventions as appropriate
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborating with parents, caregivers, and other professionals when appropriate to support client care
- Maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and professional ethical standards
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000–$65,000 annual salary
- Full-time W-2 employment
- Flexible scheduling

- $35 productivity bonus for completed sessions above 124 per month
- Administrative and billing support
- Strong referral base
- Modern, comfortable office setting
- Telehealth options when clinically appropriate
- Supportive and collaborative clinical environment
Residents May Also Be Considered
We are also open to considering a qualified Resident in Counseling or Resident in Social Work who has a strong interest in working with children and adolescents and is seeking a supportive practice in which to complete their clinical hours.
Resident compensation is structured separately based on licensure status, experience, and supervision requirements.
