Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized neonatal intensive care in Oklahoma. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including neonatal and pediatric patient management, and demonstrate a passion for delivering exceptional patient-centered care. As a Travel NICU RN, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing comprehensive care plans for vulnerable neonatal patients in a dynamic hospital environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to life-saving interventions while experiencing diverse healthcare settings across the region.
- Provide advanced neonatal intensive care to critically ill newborns, including ventilator management, IV infusion, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications accurately, including pain management protocols and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy when applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate complex procedures like cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, or laboratory testing such as ICD coding and laboratory experience.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with procedures including suturing, tube feeding management, and specimen collection/processing in high-acuity settings such as Level II trauma centers or PICUs.
- Educate families on neonatal care practices, discharge planning, and developmental support tailored for infants with special needs or developmental disabilities.
- Ensure infection control standards are upheld through strict aseptic techniques and adherence to hospital protocols.
Requirements
- Valid Oklahoma nursing license or current multistate compact RN license
- BSN degree
- 1 year of recent NICU experience, especially Level IV NICU experience
- Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification
- Certification in NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (American Heart Association)
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- 2 years of RN experience
- Flexibility to float to all areas in children's hospital
