Position Description:
The HR Manager is responsible for leading and managing all HR functions for a growing company of approximately 80 employees. As the sole HR professional, this role oversees the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, payroll coordination, performance management, training, and company culture initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly organized HR generalist who can balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational responsibilities while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage all day-to-day HR operations and serve as the primary point of contact for employee HR matters.
· Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
· Maintain employee records and HRIS systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
· Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offer preparation, and onboarding.
· Partner with managers to identify hiring needs and workforce planning strategies.
· Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
· Foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
· Address employee concerns, conduct investigations, and support conflict resolution.
· Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance, disciplinary actions, and workplace issues.
· Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
· Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, leave programs, and workers’ compensation.
· Coordinate annual benefits renewals and open enrollment processes with brokers/providers.
· Support compensation planning and salary benchmarking efforts.
· I-9 requirements, EEO, OSHA, ACA, FMLA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
· Manage unemployment claims, audits, and required reporting.
· Administer performance review processes and support employee development initiatives.
· Identify training needs and coordinate employee learning opportunities.
· Assist leadership with organizational development and succession planning.
· Support workplace safety programs and compliance initiatives.
· Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work processes.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a standalone HR role or small-to-mid-sized company environment.
· Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
· Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
· SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
· Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software systems.
· Self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of working independently.
