Northwest Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, relational, and engaging Online English Teacher to serve students in grades 6–12 within our online program.
This role is first and foremost a teaching position, focused on facilitating English courses, supporting student learning, and building strong relationships with students. In addition, this teacher contributes to the spiritual formation of students through consistent interaction, live engagement, and collaboration with the broader online team.
Course Facilitation & Feedback
● Facilitate all secondary (6–12) English courses using provided curriculum in Canvas
● Prepare and manage course sections, pacing, and communication with students
● Grade assignments and provide timely, meaningful, and personalized feedback
● Maintain a 24-hour grading turnaround
● Support students in understanding content and applying biblical principles
● Provide feedback to the curriculum development team for ongoing course improvement
Live Engagement & Discipleship
● Engage with students through daily live sessions during school hours (approximately 4-6 hours per day) via Google Meet
● Use live time for a mix of instruction, devotions, discussion, and relationship-building
● Build strong relationships with students through consistent presence and interaction
● Create space for students to ask questions, reflect, and engage with biblical content
● Provide encouragement and support as students grow academically and spiritually
Qualifications
● A clear and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
● Agreement with Northwest Christian School’s Statement of Faith and mission
● Bachelor’s degree required (English, Education, or related field preferred)
● Current Arizona State Teaching Certification and/or ACSI Teaching Certification
● Current Arizona State Fingerprint Card
● Experience working with middle school and/or high school students
● Strong communication and relational skills in an online environment
● Experience with Canvas or other LMS platforms preferred
