We are seeking an experienced local CDL A Company Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating reefer trailers across state routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. With our local position, you have the ability to be home every day. Typically, the schedule runs Monday through Friday but occasional weekends will be required, with advance notice given.
Area of Operations
Our company services all of Ohio, the edge of Indiana, Syracuse, all over PA, New England and sometimes western Massachusetts but the local position will service within 200 miles of Akron, OH. Hours vary and it is not set nights or set days, so open availability is imperative. Hourly pay $25. $1200-$1500/wk. Average weekly miles 1,000-1,500. Typically, M-F but occasional weekends will be required.
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with automatic transmission across regional routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards.
- Most freight is drop and hook.
- Transport refrigerated goods
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Follow designated routes efficiently while managing delivery schedules to meet deadlines.
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and report any mechanical issues promptly for repair.
- Assist with route planning to optimize efficiency and safety during deliveries.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record
- Minimum age of 25
- No more than 2 serious moving violations in the last 3 years
- Must not be prohibited from operating a commercial vehicle in the FMCSA Clearinghouse
- No loss of CDL due to disqualifying offenses in the last 3 years
- 2 years verifiable experience operating tractor-trailer
- Familiarity with various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures for commercial driving
