Commercial Construction Superintendent/Commercial/General Contractor
Summary:
We are seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead on-site coordination across multiple active projects. You will own scheduling, subcontractor accountability, quality control, inspections, and job site documentation — from project kickoff through punch list completion. This role requires someone who is organized, direct, and comfortable managing several jobs simultaneously without losing detail on any of them.
This is a salaried, exempt position. Work schedules are driven by project needs and client timelines, and flexibility in hours is part of the job.
What You Will Do:
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path sequence- Build the job schedule
- Enforce subcontractor compliance with contracted scope, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Communicate ASIs, RFIs, and material submittals with the project team; escalate conflicts before work deviates from approved plans
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
- Maintain daily job logs in BuilderTrend; walk all active projects daily
- Issue notices of non-compliance for quality or scheduling deficiencies
- Manage project close-out and punch list through completion
- Preside at pre-construction meetings and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and secure
- Assist with budgeting, permit coordination, and subcontract award as needed
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist with budgeting, bidding, and subcontract awards.
- Help secure permits or revision approvals.
- Maintain approval records on site.
- Identify out-of-scope subcontractor work.
What You Need:
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a superintendent on commercial construction projects
- Ability to manage multiple active job sites simultaneously — this is a core expectation, not an occasional ask
- Blueprint reading: commercial tenant improvement and/or ground-up construction drawings
- Experience scheduling and holding subcontractors accountable to scope, schedule, and quality
- Strong written and verbal communication — every verbal direction to a sub gets backed up in writing
- Track record of maintaining organized, accurate job documentation throughout a project lifecycle
Technology:
- Construction management software — BuilderTrend or similar (Procore, Buildertrend, CoConstruct) — VVC runs BuilderTrend; you must be proficient in Schedule, Daily Log, Change Orders, and Lien Waivers. Ability to produce and manage a Gantt chart schedule is required from day one.
- Plan markup and as-built software — Bluebeam Revu or similar (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Foxit PDF Editor) — used daily for marking up drawings, annotating plans, and maintaining as-built records in the field. Must be comfortable working in PDFs and applying redlines, revisions, and field notes.
- Microsoft Office Suite — Outlook (email and calendar management), Word (letters, notices, documentation), Excel (tracking, budgets, schedules). Proficiency expected — not a training item.
- General computer proficiency — This is a computer-intensive role. Field documentation, sub coordination, scheduling, and reporting all happen in software. Minimum 40 WPM typing recommended.
Nice to Have:
- Experience at a commercial GC running $10M+ in annual volume
- Trade background (foreman, journeyman, or laborer) — gives you the language that makes sub coordination easier
- Established subcontractor relationships in the Denver metro market
- Experience building or following construction SOPs and process documentation
- Four-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred, not required)
What we Offer:
- 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums (employee coverage)
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
- $25,000 basic life and AD&D coverage
- HSA-compliant health plan available
- Voluntary short-term and long-term disability; additional voluntary benefits
- A flat, direct culture where field leadership is respected and ownership is real
