We are currently hiring a Yard Material Handler / Forklift Trainee to support our drilling operations yard at our headquarters in West Valley, Utah. This is an entry-level opportunity for a reliable, safety-minded candidate who enjoys physical outdoor work, wants to learn equipment and drilling tools, and can work a consistent 10-days-on / 4-days-off schedule.
This role is best suited for someone who is based in the Salt Lake City area, can reliably commute to West Valley, and is interested in learning forklift operation, material handling, shipping/receiving, and drilling equipment support.
What You’ll Do
- Work outdoors in a yard environment during all weather seasons.
- Gather, package, stage, ship, and load tools, equipment, and supplies for drilling projects.
- Receive, clean, organize, and store tools, supplies, storage boxes, and containers returned from completed drilling projects.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard.
- Learn drilling tools, equipment, and yard processes through hands-on training.
- Become task trained and certified to load and unload materials using forklifts and yard equipment, which may include small warehouse forklifts, telehandlers, and large-capacity equipment lifts.
- Follow all Boart Longyear safety procedures, yard rules, traffic flow requirements, and PPE requirements.
- Support other yard, warehouse, and operations tasks as needed.
Schedule
- 10 days on / 4 days off
- Monday is the first day of the 10-day rotation
- Overtime pay required based on business needs
- Candidates must be able to work the full 10/4 schedule consistently
What We’re Looking For
- Must currently live within reliable commuting distance of West Valley City / Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work outside for most of the workday in heat, cold, rain, snow, and changing weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending, and working around equipment.
- Basic familiarity with mechanical hand tools is helpful, but not required.
- Forklift experience is helpful, but not required; training may be provided.
- Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow all company safety rules and procedures.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work the assigned 10/4 schedule.
- Must pass a physical competency test.
- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
