As a General Machine Operator, you will operate a variety of machine tools and equipment used to process metal into finished products while maintaining HPA's high standards for quality and safety.
What You'll Do:
- Set up and operate saws, grinders, and other machine tools to manufacture finished metal products.
- Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Select and secure workpieces using appropriate fixtures and lifting equipment.
- Set machine speeds, feeds, cutting depths, and tooling for production operations.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as needed to ensure product quality.
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools to verify specifications.
- Package finished materials according to work instructions.
- Label products and maintain accurate product identification throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist Radial Forge Operators with loading materials into furnaces and handling hot materials using approved lifting devices.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and safety procedures.
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience.
- Experience operating machine tools or production equipment.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands to handle materials and operate equipment.
- Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with loud noise, moving machinery, airborne particles, and varying temperatures.
