Position Overview
The Islamic School of Louisville is seeking a caring, skilled, and student-centered Academic Interventionist to provide targeted academic support to students and assist classroom teachers in helping every child reach their full potential.
This position is ideal for experienced educators, retired teachers, former classroom teachers, or individuals seeking meaningful part-time work in a positive and supportive school environment. The role focuses on working directly with students through small-group and individualized instruction without the responsibilities and demands of managing a full-time classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic intervention and support to students individually and in small groups.
- Assist classroom teachers in identifying and addressing student learning needs.
- Support students in developing foundational skills in reading, mathematics, and other academic areas as needed.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations with teachers and school administrators.
- Help create a positive and encouraging learning environment for students.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and administrators.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and families.
- Contribute positively to the school's culture, mission, and community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
- Classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Retired teachers, former teachers, and experienced educators are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience providing academic intervention, tutoring, small-group instruction, or individualized support is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and families.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse educational environment.
