We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and compassionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing practice.
Position Overview
As an EFDA, you will play a pivotal role in maximizing our clinical efficiency and elevating the patient experience. You will work closely with our dentists to perform advanced clinical supportive functions and independent procedures within your legal scope of practice. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical capabilities, excellent four-handed dentistry skills, and a warm, reassuring chairside manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Restorative Care: Place, contour, and finish permanent direct restorations (including composite and amalgam fillings).
- Prosthodontic Support: Fabricate, adjust, and place temporary crowns and bridges; take highly accurate preliminary and final impressions for crowns, bridges, and partials.
- Chairside Assisting: Provide proficient four-handed chairside assistance to the dentist during complex examinations and surgical dental procedures.
- Patient Preparation & Education: Greet and seat patients, review medical histories, explain treatment plans, and deliver comprehensive post-operative care instructions.
- Preventative Treatments: Apply sealants, cavity varnishes, topical fluoride, and topical anesthetics as authorized by state regulations.
- Clinical Maintenance: Follow strict OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines to clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
- Radiography: Take and process high-quality diagnostic dental radiographs (X-rays) and advanced imaging as required.
- Documentation: Accurately update electronic health records, document clinical notes, and manage patient charts using [Insert Software, e.g., Dentrix/Eaglesoft].
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Current state licensure or certification as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA).
- Radiology: Valid state Dental Radiology / Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) certification.
- Life Support: Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
