Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, solution-oriented Field Superintendent / Survey Manager to serve as the primary field representative and team leader for commercial signage projects throughout the United States. This hands-on leadership role combines complex field surveys, project coordination, and direct management of a team of approximately 3–5 Field Surveyors. The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction experience, enjoys mentoring others, solving field challenges, and acting as the bridge between the job site and our Engineering, Sales, Art, Scheduling, Production, and Installation teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Field Superintendent / Survey Manager leads field operations and ensures every project is thoroughly evaluated and properly planned:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3–5 Field Surveyors, providing training, coaching, scheduling, and performance support.
- Schedule and coordinate daily and weekly survey assignments based on project priorities and workload.
- Perform complex field surveys, site evaluations, and attend project meetings for commercial signage projects; review construction documents, shop drawings, survey reports, measurements, and photographs for accuracy.
- Identify potential installation challenges and develop practical solutions; communicate findings clearly to internal teams and customers.
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Art, Scheduling, Production, Installation, customers, and general contractors to ensure projects are properly planned and executed.
- Monitor project progress, resolve field issues, and provide technical guidance to surveyors while promoting a culture of accountability, professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of field personnel.
- Ensure survey equipment, vehicles, and field tools are properly maintained.
- Travel throughout the United States as needed (approximately 10–20 days per month).
Education and Experience
Required:
- 5+ years of commercial construction, signage, architectural, or project management experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing field personnel.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices and the ability to read architectural, structural, electrical, and shop drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable working at heights, navigating active construction sites, and operating or overseeing aerial lifts and other construction equipment.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–20 days per month by vehicle or airplane.
Preferred:
- Sign industry or architectural metals/façade experience.
- Experience with large general contractors (e.g., JE Dunn, Vaughn, or similar).
- General contracting, electrical, or structural attachment methods knowledge.
- Experience with Procore, Fieldwire, Bluebeam, or similar construction management and PDF markup software.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.

- Regularly lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs.
- Normal setting for this job is outdoors/field-based with significant travel via company vehicle or air.
