Executive Secretary, Louisiana Board of Professional Geoscientists

Employer: The Louisiana Board of Professional Geoscientists (lbopg.org) is the sole licensing authority for individuals practicing geoscience in the state of Louisiana.
Role Description: The Executive Secretary is a part-time (30-hours per week), in-office position based in Baton Rouge, LA. This role supports the Board’s operations by managing schedules, coordinating bimonthly Board and committee meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and maintaining official records of license applications and files. The Executive Secretary will handle correspondence, respond to inquiries from licensees and the public, and provide front-line customer service to licensees via phone, email, and in person. The position will manage the Board website through a third-party vendor. The position also includes financial reconciliation, expense processing, budget management, and coordination with a C.P.A. for annual tax filings.
Qualifications
- Strong clerical skills, including document preparation, records management, data entry, and file organization, handling confidential information, meeting coordination and minute-taking.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with Board members, licensees, and the public.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., QuickBooks Plus, Microsoft Word and Excel, email, online meeting tools) and the ability to learn Board-specific systems.
- High level of integrity and discretion, with a commitment to ethical conduct and public service.
- Previous experience in a regulatory, governmental, or professional licensing environment is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Salary
Commensurate with experience and education. This position is an unclassified State Civil Service position and does not participate in the state retirement system (LASERS).
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
