The Substitute Custodian is responsible for supporting building cleanliness and safety by performing a variety of custodial duties on an as-needed basis. The goal of this position is to ensure that school facilities remain clean, safe, and orderly so that students and staff can focus on teaching and learning without disruption.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and other areas as needed.
Refill soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other hygiene supplies.
Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
Secure buildings by locking doors and windows and ensuring all equipment is turned off as needed.
Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events and activities.
Respond to immediate cleaning needs such as spills, accidents, or weather-related debris.
Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers safely and efficiently.
Follow all safety protocols and cleaning procedures to ensure a sanitary and hazard-free environment.
Report maintenance needs, safety concerns, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel.
Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and the public.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold the standards and values of the district.
