Role Description
"Home health aide" means a person who is trained or qualified, as provided by rule, who has successfully completed: a training and competency evaluation program as specified in State and Federal Regulations (CoPs) respectively, and is currently listed in good standing on the state nurse aide registry. Home health aide training must include classroom and supervised practical training in a practicum laboratory or other setting in which the trainee demonstrates knowledge while providing services to an individual under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse who is under the supervision of a registered nurse and who provides hands-on personal care, performs simple procedures as an extension of therapy or nursing services, assists in ambulation or exercises, or assists in administering medications as permitted in rule and for which the person has received training established by Federal and State regulations.
The Home Health Aide provides compassionate, hands-on personal care and supportive services to patients in their homes. The HHA works under the supervision of a licensed nurse and helps maintain patient comfort, safety, and independence while following the approved plan of care.
Qualifications
- Experience with Home Care and providing support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Skills and experience in providing high-quality Patient Care and Personal Care
- Strong Communication skills, including interpersonal and active listening abilities
- Compassionate, empathetic nature with a commitment to client well-being
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Physical ability to perform caregiving duties
- Home Health Aide Certificate, 75 hours
- Twelve hours of In-Service during the current year including HIV/AIDS, OSHA, Domestic Violence, Self-Administration of Medication
- HIV/AIDS certificate
- OSHA Certificate
- Alzheimer's 3-hour training
- Domestic Violence Certificate
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation preferred for travel to client locations
- Auto Insurance
- Proof of Citizenship/Residency (Voter registration card, resident card, etc)
- Social Security Card
- Physical Examination (less than 12 months)
- Criminal Background Check
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
