This position supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cargo Systems Program Directorate (CSPD) in the development, enhancement, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of mission-critical CTPAT and Trade Compliance (TC) portal applications.
We are seeking a UI/Angular Developer with 4–6 years of experience in designing and developing modern, responsive, and accessible web applications using Angular. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building intuitive user interfaces, integrating with RESTful APIs, and delivering high-quality front-end solutions within an Agile development environment. The developer will collaborate closely with UX designers, back-end developers, business analysts, and government stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and Section 508-compliant applications supporting CBP's mission-critical initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- 4–6 years of professional experience in UI/front-end application development
- Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Angular (12+/14+)
- Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS
- Experience with Angular Material and responsive UI development
- Experience building reusable Angular components, directives, services, and modules
- Strong understanding of component-based architecture and state management concepts
- Experience integrating Angular applications with RESTful APIs
- Experience using RxJS and asynchronous programming concepts
- Experience with Karma/Jasmine for unit testing Angular applications
- Familiarity with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience with Git and version control workflows
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Harness, or equivalent)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using Jira and Confluence
- Basic understanding of Java/Spring Boot applications for effective front-end/back-end integration
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing applications for Federal Government agencies
- Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
- Experience with AWS cloud environments
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments
- Familiarity with SonarQube, OWASP dependency scanning, and secure coding practices
- Experience with application monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or Kibana
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar
- Active CBP Public Trust or DHS clearance is a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain modern, responsive web applications using Angular and TypeScript
- Build reusable UI components using Angular Material while ensuring consistency across the application
- Develop user-friendly interfaces that comply with Section 508 accessibility and responsive design standards
- Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs developed by back-end services
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable front-end code following industry best practices
- Create and maintain unit tests using Karma and Jasmine to ensure application quality and code coverage
- Collaborate with UX designers, business analysts, and back-end developers to translate user stories into intuitive user experiences
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot UI defects and optimize application performance across multiple browsers and devices
- Support CI/CD processes and participate in deployment activities as needed
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives
- Document technical designs, implementation details, and application enhancements
- Follow secure coding practices and support compliance with federal security and accessibility requirements
