Yay’s Asian Market is a new Asian grocery market opening soon in Salem, and we are looking for a few part-time helpers to join our team at the very beginning.
Job Summary
The store help is responsible for providing friendly and accurate checkout service, keeping the front end clean and organized, and helping support smooth daily store operations like stocking and recieving. This role is an important part of the customer experience and helps set the tone for our new store.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide helpful service during checkout
- Operate the register accurately and handle cash, card, and EBT transactions
- Keep the checkout area clean, stocked, and organized
- Help restock items, baskets, bags, and boxes as needed
- Assist with basic store upkeep, facing, and cleaning
- Answer simple customer questions and direct concerns to a manager when needed
- Follow opening and closing procedures as assigned
- Support the team wherever needed in a small, collaborative store environment
Qualifications
- Friendly, dependable, and comfortable working with customers
- Able to learn register procedures and handle payments accurately
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to help where needed
- Able to stand for long periods and occasionally lift light items
- Previous experience is helpful, but not required
