Our client in the healthcare industry has a need for a hands-on Fractional Chief Financial Officer for a role that will last at least six months. This position will require up to 20 to 30 hours per week.
The CFO will provide accounting and financial oversight, strengthen revenue cycle processes, and supervise the existing finance team of 2. This individual will also lead a comprehensive cleanup of the company’s accounting records and financial processes, improve the quality and timeliness of reporting, and support senior leadership through the post-close transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership and oversight of accounting and finance operations
- Lead the cleanup of the general ledger, balance sheet and income statement accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Evaluate the company’s current accounting and financial systems and make recommendations on potential improvements
- Evaluate and improve revenue cycle processes, systems, controls, and reporting
- Evaluate and improve provider compensation methodologies, models, reconciliations, and reporting
- Evaluate and improve value-based care revenue models, reconciliations, and reporting
- Supervise, develop, and provide direction to the existing accounting and finance team
- Coordinate with external auditors and other third-party advisors
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, processes, systems, and accountability
Qualifications
- Prior CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable senior financial leadership experience
- Strong hands-on accounting and controllership background
- Significant healthcare revenue cycle experience
- Experience within ambulatory, outpatient, behavioral health, value-based care, or a related healthcare environment
- Prior experience leading and developing accounting and finance teams
- M&A, post-close integration, or private equity-backed company experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing external audits and working directly with auditors
- Comfortable operating in a mid-market environment where the CFO remains involved in day-to-day accounting and finance activities
- Ability to commit to an engagement of at least six months
