Registered Nurse (RN)
The Registered Nurse (RN) will report to the Director of Nursing. Primary work location will be at our Residential Treatment Center located at 599 California Ave, Reno, NV 89501. This position will be considered hourly, non-exempt.
Shifts: Full-time, Part-Time, Per Diem
Days (6a-6p), Nights (6p-6a)
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and nursing practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems preferred.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding preferred.
- Background in mental health treatment is advantageous (anxiety, eating disorders, mood disorders).
- Strong spelling, grammar, multitasking, and electronic documentation skills.
- Strong computer skills—EMR, Microsoft/Google programs, insurance portals.
- Demonstrates competency and sensitivity in multicultural, racial, spiritual, and gender identity matters.
Requirements:
- Must pass a federal background check at hire and every 3 years.
- Must adhere to the drug-free workplace act.
- Demonstrate maturity of judgment, attitude, and life skills.
- Must demonstrate an ability to adapt to change and remain flexible.
- Must be a strong team player that works well in a busy environment.
- Must have strong communication skills and be upbeat, positive, and professional when interacting with clients, providers and fellow co-workers.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and manage your time unsupervised & independently.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout the residential stay
- Administer medications and document all medication activity per policy.
- Perform ongoing medical monitoring (vitals, weights, symptoms, labs coordination).
- Provide medical triage and crisis response for RTC-level clients.
- Document all nursing interventions and communications in the EMR system.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, dietitians, physicians, and recovery coaches.
- Participate in daily clinical handoff meetings and weekly treatment team.
- Educate clients and families on medication, symptoms, and health management.
- Support recovery coaches with meals, exposures, behavioral interventions, and daily routines.
- Maintain infection control procedures and comply with all regulatory standards.
- Assist in discharge planning and provide nursing recommendations for continuity of care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Overnight Duties:
- 15 minute bed checks.
- Documentation as needed.
- Medication as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
