Small two office tax firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced tax accountant to join our financial team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax accounting and management, with expertise in various accounting software, including QuickBooks and Drake Accounting. This role is crucial for preparing a myriad of tax returns, including 1040's, sole proprietorships as well as complex corporate returns, ensuring compliance with state and federal tax regulations.
- Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns in a fast-paced environment January through April.
- Prepare 1099's and extensions ensuring timely and accurate deadline reporting.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations, tax law and standards affecting the organization and clients.
- Quarterly Payroll Reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Enrolled Agent equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a tax preparer or similar role within the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, tax preparation software and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and tax preparation.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, tax law, and financial management principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in work outputs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment comprising of two office locations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present financial information to clients as needed.
