We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to oversee and lead the Human Resources function within our skilled nursing/long-term care facility.
This is not an entry-level HR position. The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare HR professional who understands the unique regulatory, staffing, payroll, employee-relations, and compliance requirements of long-term care.
This position requires strong working knowledge of Florida AHCA requirements, AHCA Level 2 background screening, Joint Commission readiness, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, labor and employment laws, Workers' Compensation, payroll, employee relations, recruitment, and personnel-file compliance.
You will partner closely with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, department managers, and employees to ensure a compliant, productive, and positive workplace while supporting the highest quality of care for our residents.
Manage the day-to-day Human Resources operations for the facility.
Serve as a trusted HR advisor to the Administrator and department managers.
Partner with management regarding employee relations, performance, attendance, coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary matters.
Conduct and/or assist with employee investigations.
Coach managers before employee disciplinary actions are taken.
Promote a respectful, professional, and positive workplace culture.
Maintain confidentiality regarding employee and facility matters.
Monitor turnover, retention, attendance, recruitment, and other HR metrics.
Manage and/or oversee biweekly payroll processing and ensure payroll is accurate and timely.
Review employee timecards, attendance, overtime, PTO, deductions, and other payroll-related information.
Audit timekeeping records and identify discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
Process and maintain employee changes affecting payroll, including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, pay-rate changes, and status changes.
Partner with department managers to ensure accurate scheduling and timekeeping.
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions.
Ensure proper application of overtime and wage/hour requirements.
Maintain accurate payroll and employee records.
Work with payroll providers and/or corporate payroll teams as applicable.
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and payroll information.
Assist with payroll audits and related compliance reviews.

Track licenses, certifications, background screenings, training, competencies, and required documentation.
Maintain working knowledge of Florida AHCA requirements applicable to skilled nursing and long-term care facilities.
Manage and monitor applicable AHCA Level 2 background screening and Clearinghouse requirements.
Track required background screening documentation and employee eligibility.
Ensure required personnel documentation is complete and current.
Conduct regular personnel-file audits.
Assist with preparation for AHCA surveys, audits, and regulatory reviews.
Monitor employee credentials, licenses, certifications, training, and required documentation.
Maintain HR processes that support survey readiness and regulatory compliance.
Support facility readiness for Joint Commission accreditation and surveys, when applicable.
Maintain personnel files and HR documentation in accordance with applicable accreditation requirements.
Ensure education, experience, licenses, certifications, competencies, and training are properly documented.
Conduct routine audits of personnel files to identify and correct deficiencies.
Assist leadership with survey preparation and corrective action plans related to HR findings.
Maintain accurate documentation of employee training, competency, orientation, and required education.

Maintain training and competency records.
Support employee recognition and engagement programs.
Maintain a professional working relationship with union representatives when applicable.
Interpret and administer applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Assist management with labor relations matters.
Maintain awareness of applicable labor laws and regulations.
Support management during grievances, disciplinary matters, and other labor-related issues.
3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Healthcare HR experience required.
Long-term care/skilled nursing/nursing home HR experience strongly preferred.
Payroll processing or payroll administration experience required.
Experience with recruitment platform, payroll, and electronic timekeeping systems.
Working knowledge of Florida AHCA requirements.
Experience with AHCA Level 2 background screening/Clearinghouse processes.
Working knowledge of FMLA and ADA requirements.
Strong understanding of FLSA, wage/hour, labor, and employment laws.
Experience with employee relations, investigations, coaching, and corrective action.
Experience maintaining and auditing healthcare personnel files.
Experience with healthcare recruitment and onboarding.
Experience with Workers' Compensation and leave administration.
Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, rehabilitation center, or long-term care facility.
Experience preparing for AHCA surveys or regulatory audits.
Experience with Joint Commission accreditation and survey readiness.
Experience in a unionized healthcare environment.
Experience administering a collective bargaining agreement.
Experience with unemployment hearings.
Experience with payroll audits and wage/hour compliance.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
