About the Position:
The part-time Admissions Design Specialist will assist Scalia Law School’s JD Admissions Office with graphic design and the development of visual materials for prospective students, admitted students, recruitment initiatives, and admissions events. The ideal candidate will have strong graphic design skills, proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, a strong eye for visual design, and the ability to work independently to manage projects and meet deadlines.
This is a flexible, project-driven position and does not require a set daily work schedule. Work will vary based on admissions projects, events, and recruitment needs. The position may be fully remote or may work a hybrid schedule with 1–2 days per week at the Arlington campus. Individuals working fully remotely must have reliable access to a computer and internet connection that can support Adobe Creative Suite and the position’s design responsibilities.
Hourly Wage: $28.00–$35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Produces clean, creative, and engaging graphics that align with Scalia Law School and George Mason University branding guidelines;
- Designs digital and print materials for prospective and admitted students, recruitment initiatives, and admissions events, including flyers, invitations, signage, event materials, T-shirt designs, and other promotional materials;
- Creates graphics and visual assets for admissions email campaigns and other digital communications;
- Creates and updates admissions PowerPoint presentations;
- Collaborates with the Admissions Office to develop creative concepts and execute design projects from initial idea through final product;
- Edits and updates existing admissions graphics, templates, and promotional materials;
- Prepares design materials for digital distribution and print production;
- Organizes and maintains admissions design files, templates, and visual assets;
- Assists with photography, photo selection, and basic photo editing, as needed;
- Manages multiple design projects and accurately and efficiently meet established deadlines; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Illustrator;
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and brand consistency;
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce polished, accurate work;
- Organizational and time-management skills;
- Ability to work independently and manage projects with limited day-to-day supervision;
- Ability to accurately and efficiently meet deadlines;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint; and
- For fully remote work, reliable access to a computer and internet connection capable of supporting the position’s design responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing materials for higher education, nonprofit, professional, or similar organizations;
- Experience with photography and photo editing;
- Experience with Canva or similar web-based design platforms;
- Experience with web design or creating graphics for digital platforms;
- Familiarity with HTML; and
- Experience developing materials within established institutional branding guidelines.
