Seniors Helping Seniors Mid-South Georgia Caregiver Job Description
Caregiver – Seniors Helping Seniors® Mid-South Georgia
Like Getting a Little Help From Your Friends(R)...
Overview
At Seniors Helping Seniors® Mid-South Georgia, caregiving is not just a service—it’s a relationship.
Our organization was founded nearly 30 years ago on a simple but powerful belief: seniors can help each other age better and live longer. Our founder, Kiran Yocum, was trained for 14 years by Mother Teresa, and her legacy of compassion, dignity, and service continues to guide everything we do today.
We believe that aging should never mean isolation, and that seniors thrive best when care feels like help from a trusted friend—not a stranger. That’s why we intentionally hire mature, kind-hearted caregivers who bring life experience, empathy, and joy into the homes of the seniors they serve.
We are honored to invite you to join our mission-driven team as a Caregiver, where your presence matters just as much as your skills. In this role, you will provide personalized, respectful support while building a genuine, peer-to-peer relationship with the senior in your care—one rooted in mutual respect, shared stories, laughter, and trust.
Whether you are new to caregiving or have years of experience, if you lead with heart, patience, and integrity, you will feel right at home here.
What You’ll Do
As a Seniors Helping Seniors® caregiver, you will support both daily living and human connection, which could include many of the following:
- Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Preparing nutritious meals tailored to individual preferences and dietary needs
- Providing medication reminders and support according to individualized care plans
- Offering companionship through conversation, shared activities, hobbies, and outings—because connection is care
- Monitoring and report changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive well-being
- Taking and record basic vital signs when required
- Performing light housekeeping (laundry, tidying, dishes) to support a safe and comfortable home
- Safely assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when needed
- Provide transportation to appointments or community activities as appropriate
What Makes This Role Different
- You are not “assigned tasks”—you are building a relationship
- Care is unhurried, respectful, and human-centered
- Many of our caregivers and clients are peers in age and life experience
- We prioritize consistency, so you can truly get to know the person you support
- Our culture is rooted in JOY, compassion, and purpose.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care, assisted living, memory care, hospice, or group homes is helpful but not required
- Experience with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or mobility support is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA training preferred (training provided for the right candidate)
- Ability to safely assist with mobility and lifting using proper equipment when needed
- A warm, patient, dependable nature and a genuine love for seniors
Our Culture & Benefits

Why join Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care services?
We’ve found that our caregivers benefit just as much as those we serve through their work with Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services. This position offers a rewarding, purposeful experience and the chance to foster a true friendship with a senior, all while earning extra income. You’ll also appreciate a flexible schedule, designed to accommodate your needs, plus paid training.
Thoughtfully matched companions
We spend time getting to know potential caregivers throughout the interview process. It’s important that we get a feel for your background, interests, and hobbies so that we can pair you with a senior who can relate. To do this well, we’ve established a thorough interview system that includes a personality evaluation and background check.
