About Us
We are one of Southern California’s largest Buy Here Pay Here dealerships and in-house finance companies, managing a portfolio of approximately 1,000 active customer accounts. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on leader to oversee our finance portfolio and collections department while continuously improving performance, efficiency, and profitability.
This is not simply a collections position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of our entire portfolio, lead our team, implement new strategies, and help grow the business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage an active BHPH portfolio of approximately 1,000 accounts.
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of collectors and collection staff.
- Develop collection strategies that improve payment performance and reduce delinquency.
- Monitor portfolio health, charge-offs, repossessions, recoveries, and loss prevention.
- Manage impound vehicle recovery and redemption processes.
- Oversee repossession assignments, reinstatements, skip tracing, bankruptcies, and legal collections.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and California regulations governing collections and auto finance.
- Utilize DealerCenter daily to monitor account activity, reporting, and workflow.
- Analyze reports and KPIs to identify trends and improve portfolio performance.
- Create and implement new collection processes and efficiencies.
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate collections staff.
- Hold team members accountable through performance metrics and coaching.
- Work closely with dealership management to improve overall portfolio profitability.
- Recommend new technology, automation, and operational improvements.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has extensive Buy Here Pay Here experience—not traditional bank collections.
Required
5+ years of Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH) management experience.
- Experience managing large auto finance portfolios.
- Proven experience leading and developing collections teams.
- Strong understanding of:
- Delinquencies
- Repossessions
- Skip tracing
- Charge-offs
- Recoveries
- Payment arrangements
- Collections compliance
- DealerCenter experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- High level of professionalism and accountability.
Preferred
- Experience managing portfolios with 500+ accounts.
- DealerCenter software experience.
- Knowledge of CFPB, FDCPA, California collections laws, and repossession regulations.
- Experience creating collection KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
