SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY
Provides grade-level, standards-based classroom and individualized instruction to at-risk students, using
assessment tools, computer- based applications, and Explicit Direct Instruction techniques to ensure that
students are actively engaged in relevant learning activities.
Assist in the fulfillment of the Agency’s vision, “A strong Fresno County where people have resources to
shape their future free from poverty.”
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops and implements standards-based lesson plans for single-subject curricula.
Possesses an in-depth understanding of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and how they will be
integrated into other content areas.
Establishes effective classroom management practices which are conducive to promoting learning and
guidance.
Improves the academic skills of students and provide career and vocational awareness/education.
Prepares and maintains daily lesson plans to be submitted to the Principal on a weekly basis.
Accurately maintains daily attendance records every class period.
Administers assessments as needed.
Plans and implements a standards-based curriculum for both the seated and independent study programs
within alternative educational school guidelines.
Completes various written reports, such as report cards, progress reports, attendance records, and
disciplinary referral forms, etc.
Assists with the supervision of students before, during, and after school.
Prepares work for in-school disciplinary action, suspension and/or short-term independent study.

Provides input for Student Study Team, Special Education, and other meetings that involve the student,
parent, and school personnel.
Identifies possible special education students for testing.
Modifies curriculum when necessary.
Maintains a professional appearance and team structure, serving as a model for students.
Attends all service training as provided.
Maintains regular attendance, timeliness and punctual employee presence per Fresno EOC Policy and
Procedure Manual standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree as related to subject and grade level.
Valid preliminary/clear teaching credential through the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing in
required subject area (i.e. Math, Science, English or Social Science), or out of state equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Work experience, working with or teaching at-risk youth is highly preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and/or education demonstrating the ability to: work effectively with multi-cultural/diverse groups;
establish and maintain positive relationship with students; possess knowledge of different teaching methods
and styles; provide specialized and individualized instruction; teach subjects within credential parameters.
Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts in computers/technology in an instructional environment.
Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software.
Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by
State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.
Successfully pass required background investigation including, DOJ and Child Abuse Index fingerprint
clearance, TB clearance, and physical examination/health screening.
