ECHO is seeking a Product Test Engineer to join our Engineering team and lead product testing initiatives from concept through validation. This hands-on role is ideal for an engineer with experience evaluating, analyzing, troubleshooting, and testing mechanical and electrical systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet performance, durability, safety, and quality standards.
The salary range for this position starts at $80,000 and total compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
This is an on-site position that will be based out of our Lake Zurich facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering project teams to achieve testing objectives and meet project timelines.
- Plan, schedule, and perform laboratory and field tests on new products, assemblies, and components, including durability, impact, vibration, sound, and performance evaluations.
- Develop, revise, and execute test procedures and protocols to support product validation activities.
- Interpret and apply relevant industry standards and regulations, including ANSI, ISO, UL, and other applicable requirements.
- Analyze test data and communicate results, recommendations, and product improvement opportunities through detailed technical reports.
- Support product development efforts by assisting with test setup, data collection, analysis, troubleshooting, and report preparation.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing capabilities and recommend the acquisition of equipment and tools that enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Train and mentor team members on advanced testing methods, equipment, and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related engineering projects as assigned.
Job Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of three years of engineering experience in a product testing or validation environment.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment, including sound, vibration, and data acquisition systems.
- Experience designing and fabricating test fixtures, equipment, or systems.
- Ability to develop and execute testing programs in accordance with internal specifications and external standards.
- Working knowledge of outdoor power equipment, power sports, agricultural equipment, or similar mechanical products preferred.
- Understanding of two-cycle and four-cycle engine systems.
- Knowledge of DC motors, battery-powered systems, and electrical components is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills in manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Windows-based software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical information.
- Spanish language skills are beneficial but not required.
Education: BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for degree.
Travel: Able to travel to various field test locations to place or monitor/inspect test units with minimum oversight or supervision. (Approximately 25%)
