Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and transfer methods.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques to promote comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify changes in resident conditions and communicate effectively to ensure timely interventions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques and safe manual handling practices during patient transfers or heavy lifting tasks.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while adhering to regulatory standards for medical documentation.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with active state licensure.
- Experience working in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, or assisted living environments preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or PCC for accurate medical record management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (CPR).
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and utilize patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts effectively.
- Strong communication skills to engage compassionately with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Prior experience in dementia care, geriatrics, or behavioral health is highly desirable.
