Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Client Services Manager and Phlebotomy Supervisor, the Sr. Phlebotomist plays a vital role in collecting high-quality blood specimens and ensuring accurate laboratory processing.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing blood draws on patients of all ages and entering laboratory requisitions into the Laboratory Information System with precision and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages (pediatric through adult)
- Accurately label, process, and accession specimens in accordance with established protocols
- Accurately register patients and enter orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Enter patient and specimen data into laboratory systems with a high level of accuracy
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive patient experience
- Collaborate effectively with clinical and laboratory teams
- Adapt to changing priorities and support coverage at multiple locations as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of phlebotomy experience required
Licensure and/or Certification
- Phlebotomy certification preferred

- Strong venipuncture and specimen collection techniques
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Flexibility to adjust priorities and travel between locations as needed
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism

Per Diem Sr. Phlebotomist – Training Requirements
Candidates must be available for a consistent training schedule to ensure successful completion of all required competencies prior to working independently.
Training Schedule:
Must be available to train a minimum of three (3) days per week
Training hours are day shift only, typically 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM (inpatient) or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (outpatient), depending on training focus.
Length of training varies based on individual progress and successful completion of required competencies.
Per Diem Status Requirements
To maintain active per diem status after completion of training, employees must meet the following requirements:
Must be available to work a minimum of three (3) shifts per month
Shifts are self-scheduled using a convenient scheduling app, based on departmental needs and availability.
