The City of Conway is accepting applications for Seasonal Lifeguard positions working in the Conway Community Center Aquatics Facility. This position is responsible for the safe operation, supervision, and maintenance of the Community Center’s swimming pools and aquatic facilities.
This is a seasonal position. The majority of seasonal staff will be dismissed following Labor Day when outdoor operations close.
GENERAL SUMMARY
This position supports daily aquatic operations by monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, assisting patrons, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Lifeguards play a critical role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all facility users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and patrol activities in and around aquatic facilities
Enforce all pool rules and safety regulations
Render assistance to swimmers in distress
Administer first aid and CPR as needed
Assist with swim lessons, classes, pool parties, and aquatic programs
Assist with swim meets and special events
Maintain cleanliness of pool areas, locker rooms, and surrounding facilities
Assist with pool chemical readings and reporting
Maintain and care for swimming and safety equipment
Complete daily reports including incident and operational reports
Report facility issues or safety concerns promptly
Assist in training and supporting other lifeguards as needed
Work scheduled shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
Previous lifeguard experience preferred
Certifications:
Must be certified by the American Red Cross as a Lifeguard and maintain current certification
Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to safety and detail
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is performed in an aquatic environment with exposure to water, heat, and cleaning chemicals. Duties require prolonged standing, walking, swimming, and the ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
