Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual with excellent experience and a proven record as an HSE professional. This person will play a pivotal role responsible for the management of our HSE program. The HSE Manager is expected to have a working knowledge across all facets of Health, Safety & Environmental issues and provide support to the Corporate and Field Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and improve HSE performance in alignment with organizational core values, Safety & Environmental Stewardship, Accountability, Profitability, Integrity, Courage, Community.
Essential Job Functions:
· Assists with the development and implementation of all HSE programs.
· Supervision of Field HSE personnel: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to the Field Safety Coordinator in executing their day-to-day responsibilities.
· Promotes and ensures Life Saving Rules and Process Safety Fundamentals are being discussed, followed, and understood.
· Knowledgeable in current and emerging regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with all air permits. Communicate existing and emerging rule impacts to management. Promotes and ensures compliance with environmental permit requirements.
· Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; rendering opinions on new equipment and procedures; investigating violations; and recommending preventive programs.
· Leads investigations / Learning teams for HSE related incidents.
· Conducts follow-up assessments on Near Misses / Hazard ID’s/Spill reporting systems.
· Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
· Ensures a high degree of visibility during daily activities, providing front line safety coaching and assistance.
· Serves as a member of the company’s emergency response team and oversee the air, spill, incident management programs.
· Provide technical safety and environmental expertise for all operational departments (Drilling, Completions, Facilities, Production, Workover, and Pipeline)
· Active participant in industry working groups regarding Safety and environmental matters.
· Ensures compliance with DOT, federal, state, and local safety, and environmental regulations by enforcing adherence to regulations and advising management on needed actions.
· Assists in performing internal environmental audits and inspections for the company.
· Works hand-in hand with Third Party Safety Inspectors when necessary
Required Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience)
· 5+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) roles, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, or industrial environment
· Demonstrated experience managing or supporting HSE programs across multiple operational functions (e.g., drilling, completions, production, facilities, pipeline)
· Strong working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements
· Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
· Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance assessments
· Ability to interpret regulations and translate them into operational practices and procedures
· Demonstrated ability to influence field personnel and leadership, promote a strong safety culture, and drive accountability
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
· Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to field teams and leadership
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HSE reporting systems
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to field locations
Preferred:
· Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, CIH, or equivalent
· Experience with environmental permitting and air compliance programs
· Prior experience supervising or mentoring field HSE personnel
· Experience working with third-party auditors, regulatory agencies, and industry groups
· Familiarity with spill prevention, emergency response programs, and process safety management principles
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
· Regular travel to field locations, including well sites, production facilities, and pipeline operations
· Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, mud, uneven terrain)
· Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods during field inspections and site visits
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as needed (e.g., equipment, safety materials)
· Ability to access and navigate industrial environments, including stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms
· Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and flame-resistant (FR) clothing
· Exposure to typical oil & gas field conditions, including noise, dust, chemicals, and mechanical hazards
· Ability to respond to emergency situations, including after-hours or on-call support as needed
· Combination of office-based work and field-based responsibilities, with significant time spent in operational environments
