Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure efficient delivery routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety during transit and delivery.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage logistics cargo handling by securing loads properly, performing truck loading and unloading procedures, and verifying cargo documentation.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to maintain compliance with safety standards; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Deliver freight to various destinations accurately, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining excellent customer service.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery driving.
- Hands-on experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, or tractor-trailers preferred.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for cargo management.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for transporting dangerous goods.
- Prior experience in load & unload operations, truck loading/unloading procedures, and freight management.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the type of vehicle operated; hazmat certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time tracking to optimize delivery schedules.
