A Shared Classroom Aide plays a vital role in supporting teachers and enhancing the learning environment for students. This position requires collaboration with educators to deliver instructional support and ensure classroom activities run smoothly. The aide assists in maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere, fostering a love for learning, and helping manage student behaviors while providing individualized attention as needed.
The Shared Classroom Aide will:
- Support students with assignments and during classroom activities.
- Monitor student behavior and promote a safe learning environment.
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Help organize classroom supplies and maintain a tidy space.
- Follow BVIU school policies and procedures and work schedule as assigned.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow written Individualized Educational Programs, and assist with progress monitoring.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively deescalate student behaviors and follow taught crisis intervention techniques.
- Assist students with toileting and self-care needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years post-secondary education, and/or meet expectations of paraprofessional/teacher aide training.
- Annual completion of required number of paraprofessional hours.
- Experience working with children with diverse special needs.
- Follow directives of assigned teachers and supervisors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate confidentiality inside and outside of the work place.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students' growth and development
Pay: From $24,000.00 per year
