Overview
Valley CAPS is seeking compassionate, patient, and dedicated Direct Support Providers to join our team in Manteca, CA. In this role, you will support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals, building independence, and engaging meaningfully in daily activities. Direct Support Provider (DSPs) play a vital part in creating a safe, encouraging, and growth‑oriented environment where participants can learn, thrive, and express themselves.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is helpful but not required—we provide comprehensive on‑the‑job training. What matters most is your genuine desire to serve others with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement each participant’s individualized goals and objectives as outlined in their support plan.
- Provide hands‑on support to participants as they work toward personal, social, and skill‑building goals.
- Create and maintain a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment.
- Assist adults with personal care needs, including feeding, restroom assistance, and general hygiene.
- Support participants during community outings, activities, and daily routines.
- Model appropriate behavior, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of participant progress, incidents, and daily activities. Respond to stressful or unexpected situations with calmness, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high‑quality support.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A sincere commitment to serving adults with developmental disabilities.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Comfort assisting with personal care tasks, including feeding and hygiene support.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging or stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet agency training requirements.
- Prior experience in disability services is a plus but not required—training is provided.
