Job Summary:
The resource program teacher is responsible for working with other educators to coordinate and adapt curriculum and instruction for students with IEPs in the Least Restrictive Environment.
Qualifications:
-
A valid Michigan teaching certificate in special education, with the demonstrated ability to co-teach secondary content areas
-
NCA/AdvancEd/Cognia accreditation standards met to teach special education
-
Federal standards met to be highly qualified in special education
-
Experience in successfully working cooperatively with colleagues
-
The training and skills to work with a diverse group of high-school students
-
Experience working with students with behavior needs
-
Experience creating and implementing behavior-support plans IEPs, and curriculum materials based on those IEPs
-
CPI trained

Federal standards met to be highly qualified in a secondary content area

Highly skilled in organizational and interpersonal communications, particularly with high-school age students and parents, and in stressful, sometimes conflict-laden situations

Work effectively with at-risk students

Employ culturally responsive teaching strategies, restorative practices, and trauma-informed practices to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population

Work with colleagues to continue to implement, assess and meet our school-improvement goals

Work with colleagues effectively and cooperatively

Experience and willingness to lead extracurricular or athletic activities

Work cooperatively with other colleagues, such as special-education teachers, regular-education teachers and counselors, to serve as part of a team to support all students
