Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Bursar to join our financial team. The Sr. Bursar will play a crucial role in managing the institution's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining the integrity of financial records. This position requires strong financial acumen and a thorough understanding of accounting principles to effectively oversee budgeting, billing, and collection processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the institution's financial operations, including billing, collections, and payment processing.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights into revenue trends and budget variances.
- Maintain general ledger accounting, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize double entry bookkeeping principles to maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide support on financial concepts and reporting needs.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures related to financial management and reporting.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role with strong knowledge of financial concepts and practices.
- Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and payroll management.
- Strong skills in financial report writing with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Familiarity with debits and credits as well as double entry bookkeeping techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.
