Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join the attorney in a thriving Construction law and Personal Injury Practice. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a diverse range of legal practice areas, including estate planning, civil litigation, and more. In this position, you will play a vital role in managing case files, scheduling, drafting documents, and providing administrative assistance to attorneys. Duties
- Assist attorneys with case management across multiple practice areas such as construction law, general civil litigation, estate planning, environmental law, family law, and civil litigation
- Conduct investigative research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, state data bases and other legal research tools to support case development
- Provide initial drafts and review of legal documents including, notices, contracts, pleadings and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Manage electronic and physical filing systems and schedule hearings using document management systems like Florida E-file and Courtmap.
- Support client communication by scheduling meetings, preparing interview questions, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
- Review documents for accuracy, completeness, and procedural compliance in accordance with procedural law standards
- Perform data entry, organize case files, and assist with document review for litigation or transactional matters
- Support attorneys with project management tasks related to complex cases or transactions involving a wide range of construction issues.
- Handle administrative duties such as proofreading documents, managing calendars, and maintaining organized records of legal activities
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of various practice areas including civil litigation, personal injury law, and general & commercial litigation
- Being capable of mastering legal support functions such as legal research (Westlaw & LexisNexis), document management , case management (Clio), and procedural law knowledge
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with clients and colleagues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint) along with familiarity with document review tools and data entry systems
- Effective interviewing skills for client intake processes and information gathering
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining high ethical standards
- Exceptional proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all legal documentation
- Strong phone etiquette combined with professional client communication abilities
- Experience supporting attorneys in civil litigation support tasks such as document review and trial preparation
