American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Outpatient Oncology Clinic position requiring 2 years of oncology/surgical experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
-
Services Medical Oncology and Surgical Oncology patients across disease teams including Neuro, GI, GU, Endocrine, Melanoma, Liver, Pain, Palliative, Sarcoma, Head & Neck, and Neuro Spine

Assignment focuses on the specific disease team where the current need lies, not all teams
-
Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM

Uses Epic charting system
-
Royal blue scrubs required
-
Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, or must apply prior to start with sufficient time for CT license issuance (15-21 business days)

BLS certification required
-
Chemo (ONS/ONCC), OCN, and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required within the specialty; 1.5 years accepted with Level I Trauma or travel experience

Surgical and oncology experience highly preferred
-
Trauma Level I experience at a large facility required
-
Experience with biotherapy, immunotherapy, and cytotoxic therapy preferred
-
Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
-
Experience with psychosocial care including advance directives, hospice care, and patient/family education preferred
-
Symptom management skills for side effects such as altered mental status, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, and mucositis preferred
-
Knowledge of oncology medications including antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen preferred
-
Experience caring for patients with various cancers (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others) preferred

Telephone triage and wound care experience preferred

Neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE knowledge required

1 reference required for consideration

Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious/medical exemptions
-
Responsibilities include telephone triage, in-basket management, assisting providers during clinic visits, new and return patient visits, and pre-op/post-op teaching
-
Works within a large academic medical center with 1,000+ beds
-
Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
-
Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital to be eligible as a traveler
-
Facility can auto-approve up to 7 days of RTO
-
Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
-
Candidates with any planned vacation between sign date and start date should communicate this early to allow for realistic start date planning
