General: Pro-Life Charleston is seeking a volunteer Nurse ideally experienced in an OB or Labor and Delivery environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing for the overall care of the client/patient. This is a part-time position for an individual working aboard our mobile pregnancy center in the Greater Charleston Metro Area of South Carolina. This is a mission critical position.
Ministry Purpose: This position plays a significant role in achieving the religious mission of the clinic and, thus, has a ministry purpose.
Qualifications:
- Agrees with the center’s statement of faith, mission statement, and code of Christian conduct.
- Is dependable, stable, and capable of committing to this position’s responsibilities and duties.
- Expresses a desire to reach at-risk patients considering abortion.
- Believes in the sanctity of all human life from the moment of conception through natural death.
- Has a sincere, mature faith and can share the gospel.
- Is in good standing in the medical community and is duly licensed in SC or a reciprocal state.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal, spiritual, and administrative skills, takes initiative, and is flexible.
- Physically able to stand for long periods, has good eyesight or corrected vision, has steady hands, and has a good bedside manner.
- Skilled with current technology and able to learn new skills quickly.
- Willingness to learn and become competent performing a limited obstetric ultrasound.
Reports To: Mobile Pregnancy (Nurse) Manager or Director.
Time Commitment: As per the hiring agreement.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Works with clinic staff to ensure patients receive the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible.
- Performs physical examinations within their scope of practice, such as vital signs, pregnancy tests, etc.
- Grows in knowledge and skill competence for medical procedures performed.
- Ideally, works alongside an ultrasound qualified individual learning the skills necessary to perform a limited obstetric ultrasound.
- Reinforce the humanity of the unborn child with the patient.
- Provides spiritual leadership to ensure the Godly mission of the organization.
- Ensures that OSHA and HIPAA guidelines are followed.
- Completes necessary forms and charting (EMR), including the pregnancy verification letter.
- Follows up with patients as directed by policies and procedures.
- Provides education for patients to develop an understanding of their health condition, including physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
- Having 2nd and 3rd trimester u/s experience is a plus.
- Working with eKYROS’ Centerpiece is a plus.
- Working as a NP or APN is a plus.
- Upholds the center’s policies and procedures.
- Supports the religious mission of the center and encourages the spiritual growth of staff and clients.
- Reinforces the humanity of the unborn child with patients, their guests, staff, and others.
- Able to share the gospel with patients and pray with them as appropriate.
- Participates in shared prayer and devotions as opportunities arise.
- Share the love of Jesus Christ with all staff and volunteers, as appropriate.
- Serves with a heart of mercy, grace, and love especially for helping moms in crisis and saving babies.
- Is an ambassador of the Christian mission of the center to supporters and the public at large.
Compensation: This is a part time volunteer position. You will choose the days (Monday through Saturday) and hours (between 8 AM and 8 PM) you will work. The successful candidate will work up to 4 hours per day.
Future and History: As Pro-Life Charleston’s operation expands you may have the opportunity to learn how to perform a limited obstetric ultrasound including participating in formal coursework leading to a certification. Pro-Life Charleston, established in 2016, is the parent organization of the Holy City Mobile Pregnancy Center (HCMPC), established in 2022, and the Holy City Pregnancy Care Team (HCPCT), established in 2020.
