Position Summary
ProCirrus is seeking a Senior Data Center Network Engineer to own the architecture, operation,
performance, security, and lifecycle of our data-center networking environment.
This is a hands-on senior engineering position responsible for ensuring that the network infrastructure
supporting ProCirrus services remains highly available, scalable, secure, well documented, and
operationally resilient. The successful candidate will take primary technical ownership of the data-center
network stack, from architecture and implementation through monitoring, maintenance,
troubleshooting, capacity planning, and hardware lifecycle management.
This position requires someone who can operate independently, troubleshoot complex network
conditions under pressure, make sound architectural decisions, and work effectively across infrastructure,
security, support, and other technical teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, configuration, operation, and ongoing improvement of ProCirrus data-center
network infrastructure.
- Design and implement network solutions with a focus on availability, scalability, performance, security,
and operational simplicity.
- Manage and maintain data-center switching, routing, firewall, VPN, segmentation, and related network
services.
- Serve as the senior technical resource for network incidents, outages, performance issues, and
complex troubleshooting.
- Lead network incident diagnosis and restoration efforts, including root-cause analysis and
recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Plan and execute network maintenance, firmware upgrades, configuration changes, hardware
replacements, and infrastructure refreshes.
- Maintain and administer technologies including HP/HPE AOS-CX switching, WatchGuard firewalls,
Aruba Fabric Composer, and associated networking platforms.
- Monitor network health, capacity, availability, and performance and proactively identify potential
issues or constraints.
- Develop recommendations for network optimization, resiliency, capacity, and future architecture.
- Manage routing and connectivity between data centers, offices, Internet providers, cloud
environments, and other external networks.
- Implement and maintain network security controls including firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, segmentation, and micro-segmentation.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, standards, procedures, inventories, and
- operational documentation.
- Establish and follow appropriate configuration management, change-control, testing, and rollback
- procedures.
- Coordinate with telecommunications providers, data-center providers, hardware manufacturers,
- software vendors, and other third parties as required.
- Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance and respond to critical network incidents when
- necessary.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Support, and other technology teams to ensure network
- architecture supports broader platform and business requirements.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend changes where they meaningfully
- improve reliability, security, performance, scalability, or operational efficiency.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, security awareness, documentation, and operational
- discipline.
- Perform other related infrastructure and networking responsibilities as required.
- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 5+ years of hands-on enterprise networking experience.
- Strong experience with HP/HPE AOS-CX switching and WatchGuard firewalls.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network outages and performance issues.
- Strong understanding of enterprise and data-center network architecture.
- Strong understanding of IPv4 and working knowledge of IPv6.
- Experience with routing protocols and technologies including BGP, MBGP, and OSPF.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including 802.1Q VLANs.
- Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting IPSec VPNs.
- Strong understanding of firewall architecture, policy management, NAT, routing, and network security.
- Experience with network segmentation and micro-segmentation concepts.
- Understanding of data-center, public-cloud, Internet, and WAN connectivity.
- Ability to analyze packet flows, routing behavior, latency, connectivity, and other complex network
- conditions.
- Ability to assess network architecture and make practical recommendations regarding performance,
- redundancy, security, and scalability.
- Strong documentation and change-management discipline.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues through resolution.
- Ability to remain effective during high-priority incidents and outages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical teams,
- vendors, and leadership.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Aruba Fabric Composer or comparable data-center fabric management technologies.
- Experience supporting highly available, multi-data-center environments.
- Experience with redundant Internet connectivity and multi-provider network architectures.
- Experience with network monitoring, configuration management, automation, or infrastructure-ascode technologies.
- Experience working in a managed service, cloud service, hosting, or other 24x7 production
- environment.
- Experience working within security and compliance-controlled environments.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related
- field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible enterprise networking experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting business-critical production network infrastructure.
- Physical and Work Requirements
- This position generally has no unusual physical demands associated with the role but may occasionally
- require installation, replacement, or inspection of network equipment. The position may require
- scheduled after-hours work for maintenance and upgrades and availability during critical network incidents
Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
