The Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle is seeking to fill a Cook position in its Jefferson County Club. This position requires a good understanding of multi-tasking, time management and communication with kitchen volunteers during the course of the shift based on the needs of the kitchen. We are looking to hire highly motivated individuals, and will train you to our expectation. You will be expected to manage a busy kitchen with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks at once.
The Cook prepares food items such as meats, vegetables, and grains using a variety of kitchen appliances; stoves, roasters, griddles and more, remove items from the freezer, ensure items are cooked quickly, food portioning and weighing of meats, labeling items, maintaining a clean cooking area, discarding wastes, and expired foods. Must also be able to prepare orders, inventory and receive weekly orders.
Must communicate with Club management staff and Nutritional Director to ensure the food is being made properly in a timely and efficient manner, and when problems arise.
Must follow basic cooking skills and safety regulations.
Cooks/grills foods (chicken, burger) to proper temperature.
Must follow special request for food allergies.
Cook food items per the menu and provides great presentation.
Washes and sanitizes tools, knives, cooking area and equipment. Restock all items needed throughout the shift while practicing safety and sanitation skills.
You must be 18 years old and be able to pass a background check.
Schedule is 30 hours per week. Day hours during the summer. When school is closed for holidays, snow days or teacher workdays the club will be closed. Manager approval is required for time off requests, and pay periods are bi-weekly. Weekends Off!
