Short Description:
- This position will work on tax modernization in the platform's operations team as a part of the scheduling and automations team.
- Tax modernization is a multi-year project focused on modernizing the IT infrastructure and applications for the NYS tax department.
- One of the key components of that is modernizing the day-to-day operations through scheduling and automation.
Day to day tasks:
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support the IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) environment on IBM mainframe systems.
- Monitor daily workload processing to ensure scheduled jobs, job streams, and dependencies execute successfully and within established service levels.
- Configure, schedule, and manage batch workloads across enterprise applications and platforms.
- Analyze and resolve job failures, scheduling conflicts, resource contention issues, and workload bottlenecks.
- Perform workload forecasting, capacity planning, and schedule optimization to improve operational efficiency.
- Create, modify, and maintain job definitions, calendars, run cycles, workstations, and job streams.
- Support production batch processing, including incident response, troubleshooting, and recovery activities.
- Coordinate with application teams, system programmers, database administrators, and business units to implement scheduling requirements.
- Manage workload dependencies between mainframe and distributed systems.
- Develop and maintain scheduling standards, procedures, and operational documentation.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and workload restoration activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security, change management, and audit requirements.
- Utilize IBM Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) to monitor, manage, and administer enterprise workloads.
- Configure and maintain DWC dashboards, monitoring views, alerts, and reporting functions.
- Troubleshoot workload execution issues using DWC monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Support end users and operations staff in the use of DWC scheduling and monitoring capabilities.
- Implement and maintain workload automation policies using DWC administrative functions.
- Generate workload status, performance, and operational reports for management and technical teams.
- Technical Support and Administration
- Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of IBM Workload Scheduler components.
- Manage scheduling agents, communication links, and workload automation infrastructure.
- Support integration between IWS and enterprise applications, databases, and middleware platforms.
- Implement workload automation best practices to improve reliability, availability, and performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring scheduling issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in system testing, application deployments, and production implementation activities.
Experience Required:
- 84 months Experience using administering IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/Tivoli Workload Scheduler) in a z/OS mainframe environment.
- 84 months Experience using and administering IBM Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) for workload administration and monitoring.
- 84 Months Experience Knowledge of IBM z/OS operations, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and batch processing concepts.
- 60 Months Experience workload automation concepts including calendars,
- dependencies, critical paths, and event-driven scheduling.
- 60 Months Experience troubleshooting batch processing failures and performing production support.
Must be a US Citizen
Pay $70000 - $80,000
40% remote after 4 months of 100% on site to learn tools and application and ensuring accesses are in place.
